Auto Home Insurance

In American society today, insurance is a controversial topic. Some of us feel safe and protected knowing we have coverage for every aspect of our lives. Others feel it is a way of betting on disaster occurring.

Regardless of personal beliefs, today’s American can purchase coverage on just about anything. Be it our vacation, our health, our piano or pet, boat, auto home insurance policies are available to buy peace of mind. And protection against financial loss in case of illness, accident, or any other number of disasters.

As of yet, there is no way to purchase one blanket insurance policy that covers all aspects of our lives. We need to purchase different types of insurance coverage that is represented as insurance policies sold by different insurance agencies.

Some of the insurance coverage available to us is mandated by the federal government. Other forms of insurance are mandated under the jurisdiction of each individual state’s governing bodies. Still other insurance coverage is a matter of personal choice.

Insurance policies that cover our health are very different than those that cover our personal property or investments. Options for the extent of health coverage may mean insurance against illness or injury, dental and visual insurance, and insurance against loss of work due to disability.

Your travel agent may sell insurance that will reimburse you for expenses paid toward a vacation that goes awry, such as a cruise cancelled due to hurricane, lost luggage, or medical mishaps that occur during the vacation.

Personal insurance, or renter’s insurance, cover personal belongings such as jewelry, furniture, clothing, and other personal effects that would be expensive to replace should there be a theft or damage due to a predetermined list of circumstances.

All state governments except New Hampshire require auto insurance policies. These policies provide protection to other people and vehicles that may be involved in an accident in which you are a part. You can often choose to limit coverage to the injured party only or choose to include coverage for yourself and your vehicle, too.

Homeowner’s insurance covers your mortgage as long as you are paying one and it covers accidents to people and personal effects on your property as long as these situations are covered, too.
